Uvalde residents gather at memorial in town square

As dusk fell upon the small Texas town of Uvalde, residents congregated around a memorial across the street from the municipal courthouse on Thursday for the victims of a school shooting earlier in the week, in which a teenage gunman murdered 19 children and two teachers.
