On November 2nd, 2021, at approximately 10:49 a.m., several officers with the Zone 2 Bike Unit received information of a stolen vehicle in the area of 3393 Peachtree Rd. NE.

The unit began to search the area for stolen Honda Accord and eventually located it in a parking space at that location. Officers observed the driver leave the location and maintained a visual of the stolen car until it eventually entered the parking lot at 3345 Lenox Rd.

From there, mobile patrol officers attempted to approach the vehicle, but the two male and two female occupants bailed and fled on foot.

Officers with the bike unit pursued the four occupants, quickly apprehending the 2 juvenile female occupants without incident. The Bike Unit then transferred custody of those suspects to another officer and started their canvass for the second pair of suspects. The two males were located a short distance away near Kingsboro Rd.

The suspects again fled on foot, but the Z2 Bike Unit was able to take them into custody after a brief pursuit, recovering a handgun from one of the males, who was also determined to be a juvenile. These suspects learned the hard way that the Z2 Bike Unit stays ready.

We applaud our officers on bikes, foot patrol and in cars, we appreciate your commitment to public safety and to the Zone 2 community.
