You Can Run, But You Can't Hide From The Eye In The Sky

On January 10, 2022, Lt. Donald Winston was patrolling in the Silver Springs Shores area when an off-road dirt bike was heard traveling on Silver Road. Lt. Winston contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Aviation Unit and requested assistance in locating the driver, who was later identified as Te’ijon Watson (B/M, DOB: 06/10/2002).

AIR-1 located Watson driving recklessly near the intersection of Pine Track and Bahia Circle and guided Lt. Winston to Watson’s location. Upon locating Watson, Lt. Winston attempted to conduct a traffic stop and activated his lights and sirens.

Upon seeing this, Watson chose to flee from Lt. Winston and, after a short distance, Lt. Winston terminated the pursuit due to Watson’s continued reckless driving.

As patrol deputies continued to follow Watson, AIR-1 continued to monitor Watson’s location, observing him as he drove through the yards of multiple citizens and into wooded areas in an effort to evade capture. Watson appeared to be filming the incident on his cellular phone as he drove.

Ultimately, AIR-1 observed Watson driving to the back of a home located on Spring Lake Road. Lt. Winston and Detective Burleson made contact with the residents and positively identified Watson as the driver. While being taken into custody, Watson stated, “This is about the dirt bike,” and laughed.

Watson was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding and Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle.
