Million Dollar Blockchain Projects Have Arrived in Africa!
In 2021, 41 African entrepreneurs from eight countries raised $127 million. Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Seychelles received 96 percent of the funds. Fintech companies raised the greatest funds, totaling $67 million, accounting for 53% of all blockchain fundraising in Africa. Blockchain smart contracts show the most promise for making Africa a better place to do business by combating corruption, improving the health and education sectors, and safeguarding intellectual property. Governments across Africa must embrace the technology and create regulatory frameworks to manage crypto and related sectors. In 2021, global blockchain firms raised $25.2 billion in investment over 1,247 transactions, representing a 713 percent increase in funding and an 88 percent rise year on year.
