Lake County releases a use of force incident against Ryan Mayhood in Running Creek Casino

On May 11, 2021 Lake County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous call tipping that a male later identified as Ryan Mayhood was in Running Creek Casino in Lake California. Mayhood had an active felony arrest warrant, at approximately 2:40 a.m. deputies Conntington and Gray arrived at the casino. As deputy Connington opened the front door to the lobby of the casino he saw a male he immediately identified as Mayhood, Mayhood looked directly at the Officer and immediately turned away and started walking away at a fast pace, Deputy Connington ordered Mayhood to stop but Mayhood ignored his command and started to run away.

Deputy Connington started to pursue Mayhood through the casino, Deputy Connington caught up to Mayhood graving on Mayhoods shirt as they collided with a slot machine. Deputy Connington and Deputy Gray attempted to place Mayhood under arrest, but Mayhood resisted arrest by placing both hands under his body, after a brief struggle the deputies were able to place Mayhood under arrest without further incident.

Deputies then called for medical personnel to examine Mayhood for any injuries, Mayhood was cleared from medical personnel on scene and was transported to the Hill Road Correctional Facility where he was booked for resisting arrest and the felony warrant. While at the facility Mayhood complained about pain to his right shoulder, he was then transported to a nearby hospital where it was determined he had a broken collar bone, Mayhood was treated and cleared by medical personnel for incarceration.
