Yesterday evening, H-30 along with North County Fire Authority responded to a call of a person in distress on the side of a cliff near the Palisades Park in Daly City. H-30 located the party clinging to cliffside vegetation approximately 150 feet above the beach.

With reports of the cliff eroding beneath the victim's feet, H-30 landed on the bluff and reconfigured for a hoist operation. The crew of H-30 and Fire Reacue Personnel formulated a plan to utilize a high-angle rope system to rappel a rescuer down to the party in order to secure him from falling. Once the victim was secured, H-30 lowered a second rescuer down to the retrieve the victim.

The victim was hoisted back up to the top of the cliff where awaiting ground personnel were staged. The party was evaluated by medical personnel and released from the scene.
