Father and son both arrested for grand theft and criminal mischief in Marion County

On Thursday, February 3, 2022, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Property Crimes Detective Jason Williams arrested 39-year-old Eddie Jackson Sr. (B/M, DOB: 03/21/1982) for Grand Theft, Criminal Mischief, False ID Given to Law Enforcement, and Loitering and Prowling. Detective Williams also arrested 21-year-old Eddie Jackson Jr. (B/M, DOB: 04/19/2000) for Grand Theft and Criminal Mischief.

On February 3, at approximately 3:30 a.m., it was reported to MCSO that two suspects were removing a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked at Robert’s Towing and Recovery on NE 44th Lane. The caller advised he saw surveillance footage of two suspects on the business’ property, at which time he called 9-1-1 and responded to the business.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Jackson Jr. lying on the ground and being held at gunpoint by the caller. Jackson Jr. was detained for questioning and it was discovered that Jackson Sr. fled from the scene on foot.

The MCSO Aviation Unit (AIR-1) responded to the area to assist with locating Jackson Sr. After a short time, he was found hiding near Ocala Springs Baptist Church on NE 36th Avenue. AIR-1 followed Jackson Sr. for several minutes while informing deputies about his movement and orchestrating his capture.

Ultimately, K9 Deputy Pulford and his partner, K9 Eli, were guided to his exact location. Upon seeing K9 Eli, Jackson Sr. wisely surrendered and was taken into custody for questioning.

Detective Williams responded to conduct interviews with both suspects. During the interview with Jackson Jr., he stated he was merely sleeping nearby.

When Jackson Sr. was interviewed, he provided a false name to Detective Williams and refused to speak about the incident.
Jackson Sr. and Jackson Jr. were both placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail.
