Evansville PD releases video of a deadly officer involved shooting during a hostage situation

The Evansville Police Department says a hostage situation that unfolded on Friday ended with an officer-involved shooting.

EPD says officers responded to a home on Fairlawn Circle on Friday around 11:00 a.m. after a man called 911 and said that he had shot his family and that he was about to shoot himself.

According to EPD, officers arrived at the home and found kids inside, uninjured.

EPD says the man who called 911 was found with a woman in the back room of the house, holding her hostage with a knife.

After a short negotiation, EPD says the man was shot by officers after he appeared to start to stab the woman.

We're told the woman and the children were not injured, and that no officers were injured either.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
