The other officer-involved shooting happened just after midnight on February 12.

Officers went out to an apartment complex in the 4700 block of Samuell Boulevard after getting 911 calls that someone was beating on a door and taking the hinges off a door.

Responding officers searched the area and made contact with a man, later identified as 31-year-old Dominick Green, who fled through a courtyard and into the parking lot.

Two officers chased after the suspect, who police said dropped a gun. While picking it up, police said Green reportedly pointed the gun at the officers, who then opened fired.

Green was struck six times. Officers then performed first aid on Green, who was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Investigators recovered a gun under a vehicle near where Green was, and a high-capacity drum magazine for the weapon was found in a fanny pack Green was wearing, police said. He is being charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.

One of the officers involved is a two-year veteran with Mesquite PD, and fired eight shots. The other officer involved is a one-year veteran with Mesquite PD, with other years of experience with another agency. He fired nine rounds.

These officer-involved shootings will continue to be investigated, and Mesquite police said they will be referred to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office once completed.
