It's been a hot minute but I'm back with some food for thought.

If, Then:

If I were going to try and rule the world,
I’d pit people against each other.
For big reasons.
For little reasons.
For reasons that didn’t exist before I started the game.

If I wanted to rule the world,
I’d give both sides just enough information to make them keep digging.
I’d make both sides feel intelligent for “figuring things out”.
I’d give them bread crumbs along paths that went nowhere.
And they’d never figure it out.

If I wanted to rule the world, I’d give people a megaphone
a platform to speak to millions,
but I’d make people feel like their voices weren’t being heard.
I’d make them feel like they were being silenced.
Both sides.
No, all sides.
Do you know how someone reacts when they think they’re being shushed?
They get louder.
No one knows how to be quiet anymore.
It’s quite perfect how it works out for someone who wants to rule the world.

I’d get them angry, make them feel choked or hurt or squashed,
Then I’d light the powderkeg.
Then I’d sit back
and listen to who spoke
and watch who arrived.
On this side, that side, all sides.

And then?
I’d have them exactly where I wanted them.
I’d know exactly who was who.
I’d know exactly what they believed.
I’d know exactly what they had planned.
And I’d know exactly what my next move would be to keep the game in motion.
