Injured hiker hoisted off Hood Mountain

This afternoon, H-32 responded with firefighters from Kenwood Fire, Santa Rosa Fire, and Sonoma Life Support, to a report of an injured hiker on Hood Mountain.

With GPS coordinates provided by REDCOM dispatch, H-32 located the hiker on a steep single track trail.

H-32 lowered a CHP Flight Crew rescuer to the scene and placed the hiker into a rescue harness. The hiker and rescuer were hoisted approximately 75 feet from the trail to H-32 and flown to a LZ that was established at the base of the mountain.

This was the second hiker who was rescued in Sonoma County within the same hour.
