Air unit follows a Lamborghini after fleeing a traffic stop, leading to two arrests

On February 7, 2022, just before midnight, an officer assigned to Glendale PD’s patrol bureau was near the intersection of Central Ave. and Colorado St. when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop, but the vehicle failed to yield and sped away from him, initiating a vehicle pursuit.

During the pursuit, the suspect driver reached speeds up to 90 miles per hour travelling southbound on Central Ave. The Burbank / Glendale Joint Air Support Unit arrived overhead to assist in the pursuit. The Air Support Unit observed the vehicle pop a tire as it entered the 5 Freeway from Los Feliz Rd and advised ground units that the suspect’s vehicle was sparking heavily as it continued to flee at a high rate of speed on the freeway.

The suspect vehicle exited the freeway at Edenhurst Ave. and ultimately came to a stop at Goodwin Ave. As ground units were arriving in the area, the Air Support Unit observed the driver, later identified as 24-year-old Albert Tamrazian of Glendale, and passenger, 22-year-old Erik Hovakimyan of Glendale, quickly exit the vehicle and run from the scene. The Air Support Unit maintained a visual on both subjects until patrol units arrived and detained Tamrazian and Hovakimyan near the intersection of Goodwin Ave. and Brunswick Ave. Officers discovered that Tamrazian had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, one of which was for reckless driving.

Ultimately, Tamrazian was arrested and booked for felony evading and his warrants. Hovakimyan was arrested and booked for obstruction.
