Man armed with machete, scissors crashes into cars

There have been dramatic scenes in Logan after a man allegedly crashed his vehicle into four cars and a pole, before storming the streets armed with a machete and scissors.

The frightening incident unfolded in Beenleigh around 10.30am on Tuesday, when a Holden Cruze collided with the rear of a Ford Falcon sedan waiting at a roundabout.

The 37-year-old female driver of the Falcon suffered minor rib pain and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Following the smash, the Cruze then allegedly reversed back, mounted the curb and accelerated onto the roundabout where it then ploughed into the back of a truck.

The truck driver managed to escape uninjured, but the force of the impact was so severe it ripped the Cruze’s bonnet off.

According to police, the Cruze continued on its rampage, side-swiping a Toyota Camry before colliding with the rear of a Nissan Navara ute waiting at a red light on Logan Road.

“The Cruze then allegedly drove onto the wrong-side of Logan Street and sped through a service station, before side-swiping a power-pole,” Qld Police said.

“The Cruze continued along Logan Street before coming to a stop at a barrier where a man exited the vehicle allegedly armed with a machete and verbally abused witnesses who had come to help.

“It will be alleged that the man then dropped the machete before retrieving a wallet and scissors from the Cruze and ran on foot”.

In dramatic vision captured on police body-cam, the man can be seen threatening officers with the scissors before he is finally arrested.

He was then taken to Logan Community Hospital for observation before he was transported to the Beenleigh watchhouse.

The 45-year-old has now been charged with two counts of going armed to cause fear and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, obstruct police and possessing dangerous drugs.

He is due to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
