Folsom and Sacramento law enforcement arrested 34-year-old Jose Borrego after they allege he fired at officers in the middle of an attempted traffic stop turned multi-agency car chase.

The suspect struck an officer's vehicle with gunfire at least two times. While no officers were hit, one officer sustained minor injuries during the ordeal.

"At one point during the pursuit, a shooting occurred," police said in a Twitter post.

As Sacramento police officers on Thursday around 6:42 p.m. tried pulling over a vehicle they say was driving recklessly near 44th Street and 14th Avenue, the driver didn't stop.

Though he stopped in the middle of the vehicle pursuit to shoot at officers, the suspect got back in his car and managed to throw off police.

His vehicle was located a short time later in Folsom, Sacramento police said in a statement released Friday, and a multi-agency sweep of the area turned up Borrego near the Natoma Light Rail Station.

The 34-year-old suspect was allegedly found with a handgun and ammunition booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.

"Detectives are in the process of identifying and retrieving video associated with this incident. The Office of Public Safety Accountability and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office are providing oversight by monitoring the investigation," said a Sacramento Police Department spokesperson.
