A video released Monday afternoon of the arrest showed Victavious Terrell running from officers before being handcuffed. Terrell, who was wanted in Atlanta for theft by receiving and financial fraud, was driving through the area of Pryor Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in a silver SUV when an officer spotted him and attempted a traffic stop, police said.

Terrell immediately abandoned the car and ran off, according to police. Body camera footage showed an officer running after Terrell and jumping over a fence, at which point the camera fell off the officer.

At the end of the pursuit and when Terrell was already in handcuffs, an officer told him, “Mr. Terrell, you got warrants, man,” to which Terrell responded with, “I got warrants for what?”

In addition to his warrants in Atlanta, police said Terrell was among the department’s top five auto larceny suspects. According to Atlanta police, he was wanted on charges of assault strangulation, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and terroristic threats out of Clayton County. He also has warrants in Sandy Springs for aggravated assault and robbery, and Henry County for traffic offenses.

Inside the SUV, two 9mm handguns were found underneath the front passenger seat, the video revealed. The vehicle was impounded and both guns were confiscated. Police did not say if the SUV was stolen.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reached out to authorities in Clayton County, Sandy Springs and Henry County for more information about the other warrants.
