The old mares have lost weight. Arthur has maintained. Didn't stock up on enough feed for the flood

Turns out I won't be able to get out tomorrow, so I'm organising neighbours to collect our feed and bring it up on a farm buggy.
They desperately need more feeding. It's much easier to maintain weight than to put weight on a horse.
I'll be feeding lots of chaff, copra (coconut meal), pellets and oil. All wet down to avoid colic and assist in chewing. I've decided to use chaff instead of hay, as it's cut up finely and can easily be wet down and is much easier for older horses to chew and digest.
I'll be moving where I feed them to give this area a chance to dry out.
We will be having a working bee and doing that and fixing fences on the weekend.
I discuss resting paddocks.
Anyway, I've learnt my lesson and won't be left with a shortage of feed for the horses again.
