The parable is comparing piano lessons (paid for by our parents with an expectation that we become accomplished as we make mistakes, learn and continue practicing) to our eternal salvation (paid for by Christ and with a similar expectation that we become more as we strive to make good choices, make mistakes, repent, learn and continue to improve).
