My goal of these wilderness trail videos is to 1) show reverence for the beauty of the land, and 2) give YOU actionable trail information that can assist you in planning your own hike here.

I was driving through Washington and decided to stop and scope out Kachess Lake Campground, both the camping sites and the shoreline access for kayaking, for future camping there through Recreation.gov to use a base camp for some day hikes in the area and camping/kayaking. I did this on 5/21/2022, 6 days before the official start of the camping season on 5/27/2022, and there was still some patches of snow on the road in the last few tenths as well as scattered around the campground. I hiked through the campground with a particular emphasis on the Gale Creek, Thetis, and Box Canyon sections of Kachess Lake Campground complex. The weather was inconsistent, some sun breaks, blue sky, clouds and ultimately sprinkling rain and overcast, with a low in the high 30's and a high in the 50's. There were a few mosquitoes I believe I saw that were just starting to hatch but didn't cause me any issues. As far as road conditions, it's highway to the turn off for Kachess Lake which is a paved road until a little bumpy road as the final segment, it is an easy and safe driving route. In my opinion, the road most definitely DOES NOT require 4-Wheel Drive or high clearance, however do watch for road conditions, particularly snow/ice depending on the time of year.
