I meant to say. FF5 is not padded as FF3 is.
One example is. In FF3 they had jobs that could have easily been one job.
Example. Warrior - Knight. What would have made FF3 feel less padded is if when you reach job level 50, one of jobs that adds to something gets upgraded. And it would feel rewarding too.

White Mage - Devout
Black Mage - Magus

Among some examples. So FF5 fixed that which i think was a good idea!
