Many of the mountains and geological formations are actually the results of antediluvian fossils.

Giant snakes are not abnormal and throughout history many explorers and conquerors have encountered and battled them, one of them being Alexander The Great who lost more than a few men fighting one serpent. However, this serpent, or what appears to be the remains of one, is immense spanning from central America to the Southern tip of South America forming the mountain ridge of South America's western coast.
