Liberty Coalition Canada had an initiative Jan 16th, 2022 called: Biblical Sexuality Sunday — Bill C-4: How Should The Church Respond?

The effort originated because Liberty Coalition supports Canadians, including many pastors who have raised the red flag regarding passage of Bill C-4 in our Parliament. These pastors and their congregations feel responsible to promote and affirm God’s design for gender and sexuality, and should be allowed to do so without fear or penalty of censure. The new federal legislation is based squarely on the assumption that natural sexual ethics and biological laws are “harmful”, “myth”, and mere “stereotype”. The preamble to the bill reads “whereas conversion therapy causes harm to the persons who are subjected to it; whereas conversion therapy causes harm to society because among other things, it is based on and propagates myths and stereotypes…”

Are you trying to provoke a response from the government, and if so, what kind of response?
Yes, our aim is to provoke a response from our representatives, particularly the so-called Conservative party of Canada, who have all but formally abandoned their constituents. Our Parliamentary system relies on the tension and accountability between elected parties. Meaning that the party holding the second most seats is literally called “Her Majesty’s Royal Opposition” - you are paid to oppose the governing party. Our opposition has abdicated this responsibility, choosing instead to “fast-track” any sensitive or controversial legislation to avoid criticism or negative attention. Our politicians have no moral compass. It must fall to the clergy and pastors to proclaim and keep watch over the truth in the face of evil laws designed to obscure it. That said, we don’t just want to provoke for its own sake, we want to demonstrate the moral fortitude of God’s people, so that politicians, civic authorities, and judges will turn and seek the wisdom of God’s unchanging Word.

How many churches have signed up to participate?
We don't know for certain, but we know of a few thousand churches across North America who have signed on in agreement with us, with several hundred of those churches being in Canada.

Why is this so important at this moment?
We think that the radical gay/trans activists want Canadians to acclimatize to the new law so that individuals will be dull and unresponsive when charges are laid on selected outspoken individuals. But the threat of imprisoning pastors, parents, counsellors, teachers, and anyone for that matter, who affirms God's anatomical design for the sexes and His plan for human sexuality, and counsels others to pursue obedience to that end, is a serious matter. It is an attack upon religious liberties, and more than that, it is a direct attack upon God's moral character and upon His Word. The Gospel is powerful to save individuals free them the bonds of sin. If pastors are being told they might be arrested if they declare the Gospel's power to free people from sexual sin, that is a grievous evil.
