Suffering For Christ

I. The Hatred of Life - Proverbs 8:36
A. The Law of God is the path of life
B. Those who reject God, reject His Law and they reject life

II. Right Thinking About Persecution - 1 Peter 4:12
A. Nero’s persecution (circa 54-68 A.D.) led to Peter’s martyrdom
B. Persecution of disciples is not strange - 2 Timothy 3:12
1. The world rejects and hates the light
2. As they reacted to Jesus, so also to His disciples
C. Fiery trial - 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
1. The fires of persecution can and should purify the saints
2. The final persecution at the end of the Age

1. It is as if a certain amount of suffering is part of the plan of the Father to bring His saints to perfection
2. In a battle, even when victorious, their are comrades in arms that die for the cause, partaking of Christ’s sufferings
3. They are heroes to be celebrated
B. The tribulation saints - Revelation 6:11
1. Their cry for justice will ultimately be met
2. But not before all those saints have died in battle that are in the Lord’s perfect plan
C. The incomparable glory of the saints who victoriously finish the battle for our Lord and Savior
