When we bought our home several years back Bonnie and Clyde, two Savanna X Kiko meat goats from Shirley Family Farm (Taylorsville, KY), were the first two farm animals we brought to the homestead. We had very high hopes that they would help clear some of our fence rows and keep our fields a little mowed down. However, it wasn’t long until we changed gears and moved in another direction (dairy goats) and Bonnie and Clyde just didn’t quite fit in.

It was a bittersweet day for a sentimental guy like me but we raise livestock, not pets. If an animal doesn’t fit into our plans like both we and the animal need to move on to the next chapter of our lives.
