How Long Do Angelfish Live? Angelfish is one of the fish that can adapt easily to the aquarium. They are elegant and graceful-looking when displayed. They lived in freshwater and originated either from Amazon, Orinoco, and the various Guiana Shield rivers. Angelfish is trophy fish with its unique colors, shape, and behavior compared to other aquarium fish.

Angelfish’s maximum lifespan is about 10 to 12 years on average with intensive aquarium care. Therefore, if the aquarium is well-taken care of, angelfish can live longer. To start with, they can be high-maintenance to raise, and as an owner, you have to make sure the longevity of angelfish and give them the best care because their existence would depend on your hand.

Aquarium Care
These species would prefer tall and wide aquariums with at least 20 gallons of water because of their elegant shape. Angelfish is comfortable with a temperature around 78° to 80°F, and as they came originally from freshwater, they can be more adaptable to waters with various hardness and pH. When decorating your aquarium, you have to be careful with rocks and woods because they can get injured.

Diet Scheme
Angelfish are omnivorous fish, which feed on a mixture of flakes, floods, live plants, and frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and insect larvae. They are glutton and opportunist types of fish for foods, so you have to follow a strict diet for them to avoid overfeeding. Overfeeding can only cause crucial health problems, water clouding, and the end of their lifespan.

Health Concerns
Angelfish are hardy, and it’s effective to prevent them from having diseases rather than diagnosing and treating their illness. The only factors why angelfish grow sickly are the sudden change of temperature and water's cloudiness. You have to ensure that neither of these factors will happen to the aquarium and make their environment your number one priority. Also, angelfish might be selfish when it comes to territories; however, if you insist on putting new species in the aquarium, make sure that you put them on quarantine first.

Water Changes
These fish can be overly sensitive to the water quality, but they are also responsive when placed in a large, harmonious environment. When feeding them with flake foods, make sure that the amount is right enough to be eaten and not wasted because this is the reason for water cloudiness.

Reducing Stress
Like any other person, angelfish cannot function well under stressful conditions. To eliminate, or at least reduce, these factors, you must check their tank condition daily, avoid keeping them company with other species; the tank should not be exposed to noise pollution and too much traffic and decoration around the tank.
