What is Cash Value Life Insurance - CVLI Why consider CVLI as an asset in your portfolio! 1 of 5

Cash Value Life Insurance I am discussing here is made up of four products:

Starting with least risky to least rewarding and moving down to the more risky but with greater reward potential.

1. Whole Life (WL) - Safest with guaranteed cash value, premium and death benefit. With an opportunity to earn dividends.

Best to be used as a savings vehicle like a bond, CD or Money Market account replacement.

Typically used for a high guaranteed death benefit.

2. Universal Life (UL) - Permanent Life insurance with a investment saving element.

Flexible premiums, death benefit and cash accumulation.

3. Index Universal Life (IUL) - More risky that the first too but has downside protection from market loses with a 0% floor unlike the VUL.

Ideal for maximum cash accumulation with protection from market loses as your cash account can either be in a fixed (like in WL), indexed to the market (but not in the market) or blended between the two options.

Also allows for the safest potential of supplemental income in retirement.

Often referred to the Swiss Army knife of all the CVLI options.

4. I will not be going over Variable Universal Life Insurance in this series. It requires a security license to be able to offer them.

Just know it has a death benefit and the cash value account of the VUL is typically invested in the stock market for maximum accumulation and risk as its downside losses aren’t protected from like with the IUL.
