VLADIMIR PUTIN was savagely mocked for the "humiliation of the Russian military machine" during the war in Ukraine, with one expert calling it "an incredible turning point in history".

"It was one of the most extraordinary military campaigns of the modern era.

"The fight against Ukrainian aggression will go down in history as an amazing achievement, when a huge number of PUTIN's 'giant' soldiers were defeated by a small number of Ukrainians.

"The Russians have failed miserably to achieve their goals.

"This is an incredible turning point in history - the humiliation of Russia's military machine, which was a huge shameful failure."

However, Mr. Gardiner has warned that despite Russia's efforts, Putin may be in greatest danger as he stands on the brink of defeat.

He has been compared to a snake circling around in a bag ready to pounce and bite someone as soon as he gets the chance.

There are growing concerns that Putin could set the stage for Russia to begin using nuclear weapons as part of a last-ditch effort to win the war in Ukraine.

But Mr Gardiner ruled out that possibility, making such a move "the end of Russia".

He added: "The reality is that Russia's use of nuclear weapons will be the end of Russia, and they know it.

"This has been the state of affairs since the Second World War, and every Russian leader since then understands that Russia taking the first step with a nuclear attack would be the end of Russia.

"Even Britain has the ability to cripple Russia with its nuclear arsenal, let alone the US has the right to use it.

"Actually, just defending from Britain if the Russians attacked Britain would mean the end of Russia."
