I want to share a comment I wrote yesterday in response to a concern I hear a lot among my friends. Sometimes, the way I express myself may seem like I am leaving Jesus Christ behind. I hope that this will shed a little more light on the way I currently understand the Spiritual nature of God, through Jesus Christ.
Someone wrote: "I’ve seen too much and to ever turn away from my belief in Christ Jesus being my saving grace and means to enter the Kingdom of God."
I know this sentiment well, and this attests to the scripture that says "as you have received Christ, so walk in Him".
Now I am a person who wants to know "why" I feel about something the way I do, and I have discovered that there is a little bit of "fear" or "insecurity" at the base of my saying "I will never turn away from my belief in Christ Jesus being my saving grace". (This is always in relation to or in balance to how much or how deeply we conceive of the depth that is infinite Divinity.)
This is because of "how" I learned Christ in the beginning. I was told that He is the ONLY way, in the sense of His iconic person-hood. As a "single" object of devotion.
Most of us think of Christ as the man Jesus. However, the Christ was before the identity of Jesus came into being as a physical body. This is why He could say, "before Abraham was, I am (Christ)."
So to me, the Christ is not a "person" as such... but rather the Light emanation of the Father, the 'anointing' that the physical Jesus received upon being baptised by John. And what did that 'anointing' carry? The proclamation from the Father, "This is my beloved Son".
This 'anointing' or proclamation of son-ship is the essence of the Gospel, and meant to come upon every one of us. Jesus' mission was to lead "many sons unto glory" or unto the realisation that we are just LIKE Him!
This message of truth came into the world (in fullness) by the "man" Jesus of Nazareth (the Christed One)...and this is the reason why He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. But not only He, we also become versions of the way, the truth and the life. Does this make sense?
Btw, these thoughts are "freshly baked" or still warm...as they came to me as I was typing this very comment (yesterday). Never before have I pondered it in that detail.
They say you aren't supposed to eat warm bread, it might give you a tummy ache. So, eat at your own risk. 🙂
