Cane Creek Falls, Highlands, NC -- 4K Cinematic

Cane Creek Falls is a lightly traveled waterfall in the Highlands of North Carolina, close to the Ellicott Wilderness. Cane Creek Falls Trail is located off of 1606 Whiteside Cove Rd, on an old logging road that will go all the way to the Chattooga if you desire. At the time we went, the gates were closed just outside of the trailhead, so we hiked in. It is an extremely short hike at 1.5 miles RT and 233 ft elevation change.

The beginning of the trail is pretty well-manicured being an old logging road, but then there is a drastic turn off the trail to a steep and overgrown bushwhack down to the creek, then a short jaunt up the creek to the base of the falls. This hike is NOT on a trail, it is a backcountry bushwhack. There is NO TRAIL at this point. I would suggest you are able-bodied, fit, can read a map, have a good sense of direction, and go with a hiking buddy. It's through thick Rhodedendrums, trees, and other underbrush. This is a "know your limits" hike. THIS HIKE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Also, bring a hiking rope to help get up some of the steeper ascents.
