Cutting a Bloody Swath; Terraria, Expert Drunk World; Ep 40

After dealing with a Blood Moon, I do a bit of diving to get some coral, then try to do some exploring of The Crimson... but the enemies seem quite intent on not letting me do any digging at all, and I can't dig through the rock with my pickaxe.
