Have you ever wondered how bacteria behave when they’re alone versus when they’re in a group?

Their behavior is surprisingly familiar to how we humans behave when we’re alone and when we’re a part of a group, according to Cassandra Leah Quave, who is a medical ethnobotanist whose work is focused on the documentation and analysis of botanical remedies used in the treatment of infectious disease.

Cassandra explains that when bacteria are alone in the body, they will not be as proactive as they can when they are with a large population, where they exhibit coordinating action and communication.
