I’m sure you are practicing your scales. We all do because we know that a steady diet of scales is something that will help develop our technique. Most of the time we practice our scales with much speed. We want those scales to move at a great pace.

But you know what? Playing these scales fast can actually hide problems in your playing. Going fast all the time can hide glitches and unevenness that if you slowed down would be revealed. Sometimes slow scale practice is necessary so that can hear where your finger problems are. If it is glitches, you will hear these to fix them. If it is unevenness of fingers you can concentrate on listening to even them out.

Practice your scales slowly sometimes and make sure you aren’t hiding some problem so that you too can have blistering technique!
