You Are Not Alone - Part 1 with Guest Tom and Dena Yohe

As a child, Tom and Dena Yohe’s daughter had a sensory processing disorder. In school she was bullied and, sadly, by age 12, started cutting herself. To numb her self-hatred and depression, she turned to alcohol and drugs. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the Yohes recount their heartache and desperation as their prodigal child spun out of control. Ironically, the cutting gave their daughter both a sense of release and control. Dena documents the emotional rollercoaster, the recovery, and their hope in God in her book, "You Are Not Alone: Hope for Hurting Parents of Troubled Kids."

About Today's Guest: Tom and Dena Yohe
Tom and Dena Yohe are the co-founders of Hope for Hurting Parents, a ministry designed to support parents who are grappling with destructive behaviors and other harmful choices that their teens and adult children have made. The ministry was born out of the couple’s journey with their daughter, who suffered from depression, addiction, self-injury and suicidal thoughts. Thankfully, she is in recovery and has improved a great deal. In turn, the Yohes are thriving as a family, as God intended. Tom previously served as a senior pastor for 17 years, and was a senior staff member with Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) for 14 years. His wife, Dena, previously served as a social worker, Cru staff member, and is the author of the book, "You Are Not Alone: Hope for Hurting Parents of Troubled Kids." They have three grown children, enjoy being grandparents, and live in Orlando, Florida.
