Video Zoom Pixelation Tests

All the cool kids make videos about overlanding. Well, a question came up about how much zoom can I use before pixelation occurs. This video attempts to show just how much zoom one can zoom if digital zoom is all you got. Obviously, optical zoom does not suffer from pixelation and will not be discussed.

Rendering Software: DaVinci Resolve Studio 17

Rendering Hardware: Alienware Aurora R11

Rendering Resolution: YouTube 1080

Test Videos:
1. DJI Mavic Air 2 drone video with no motion shot at 4K 24fps
2. DJI Mavic Air 2 drone video with motion shot at 4K 24fps
3. Samsung Galaxy S22 video with relatively small motion shot at 4K 30fps
4. Samsung Galaxy S22 video with motion shot at 4K 30fps
5. Samsung Galaxy S22 photo 4K

Test Procedure:
For each video above:
1. Import clip into the timeline.
2. Select 5 seconds from each clip that meets the description above.
3. Replicate the clip and zoom 1.5x
4. Replicate the clip and zoom 2x
5. Replicate the clip and zoom 3x
6. Replicate the clip and zoom 4x
7. Replicate the clip and zoom 6x
8. Replicate the clip and zoom 8x
9. Replicate the clip and zoom 12x
10. Replicate the clip and zoom 16x
Evaluate video quality, repeat until all clips tested.
