In November 2020, California voters passed Proposition 22, the most expensive ballot measure in history with over $200 million in funding from major big tech corporations, to which DoorDash Co-Founder & CEO Tony Xu heralded: "Prop 22 Victory Is a Clear Win for Dashers, Merchants, and Customers."

This week on 51/49, James examines the Xu's celebratory blog post in the aftermath of Proposition 22, which considered app-based drivers drivers (Uber, Lyft, Doordash, Postmates, Instacart, etc.) to be independent contractors and not employees or agents, and untangles the web of lies told by these corporations to gaslight drivers and consumers to pass an exploitative ballot measure.
