On April 24, Russian sources shared photos of the strengthening of the firepower of the Russian Fleet in the black sea which had just lost the command ship Moskva. One of those that received the lethal munitions was the Velikiy Novgorod (B-268) submarine, a Kilo Class upgrade, which was apparently loaded with four 3M14K Kalibr land attack cruise missiles in the port of Sevastopol. The photos were reportedly taken in mid-April.

The attack submarines of the Black Sea Fleet are reported to have carried out several strikes against high-value military targets of the Kiev forces since the start of Russia's special military operations in Ukraine. The most recent use was reported on April 22.
The Kalibr 3M14T cruise missile has a range of up to 2,500 kilometers. The missile guidance system uses the INS [inertial navigation system] and the GLONASS satellite guidance system. The missile can fly at low altitudes thanks to the TERCOM system.

The missile has a speed of up to Mach 3 the speed of sound capable of carrying a 450 kg HE-FRAG warhead or a bunker destroyer warhead.
The Kalibr family includes several types of land attack, anti-ship and anti-submarine missiles that can be launched from warships, submarines, land vehicles and even combat aircraft. Ground attack cruise missiles launched from the Kalibr family have been seen in action in Ukraine.

At least six Kilo Upgrade submarines are known to be in service with the Black Sea Fleet's 4th Independent Submarine Brigade. These quiet, well-armed submarines can provide serious offensive capabilities. Especially after the Moscow shipwreck.
