These tiny fish are found in brackish waters throughout the eastern seaboard and the Gulf of the US, They are elusive, quick, and stunningly beautiful. Found in very shallow water generally on bare bottom, they spawn throughout the summer. The sheepshead minnow is very widespread but extremely difficult to catch. They primarily eat algae. Eggs are scattered but protected by the continuous activity of the male.
