Idris Elba's character John Luter, which is apart of the BBC T.V. series "Luther" was recently deemed as "not black enough" by BBC Chief Diversity Officer Miranda Wayland. Wayland mentioned activities like "eating Caribbean food" as examples of a character that would, in fact, be "black enough" for the character in question. Elba has responded by suggesting that he agrees with the statement. The writer of the show also stated that it would be a tragedy for him, a white middle class film writer, to try to imagine a "black person's experience." Mr. Watson exposes this incident as being indicative of intersectionality theory and the increasing push to move a politically-biased idea of "diversity" into the culture. He does this with his typical "dear X" format, in which he directly addresses the subjects of his commentary.
