Fresh Lettuce!

Nearly everything has been planted now in the garden. Good thing Stan watered the cucumber plants for me or they would not have survived the transplanting! The only empty space in the garden is for three more (later) rows of sweet corn.

I thinned my lettuce and had enough for a salad for two. Nothing like fresh garden lettuce to make it feel like winter might finally be over!

I was excited to find a wide variety of herbs today at a different Amish greenhouse (they are numerous around here!) I haven't grown spearmint (Stan calls it "tea"...) for years because it goes rogue and takes over the yard. But Stan found some large old pots and filled them with new potting soil so the mint will be "contained." I bought spearmint, chocolate peppermint, orange mint, ginger mint, lemon balm, and anise. Now I just need to remember to water them.

Oh, and Rocket was his usual "got to be where the action is" self...
