Elderberries: Heavy-Laden

It caught me by surprise but these 90 degree F. days have really ripened the huge clusters of elderberries. These clusters are so large and so heavy that I'm afraid some of them might break before they ripen. I picked a few today, putting them, stem and all, in a large ziploc bag and freezing them. I'll deal with them when the weather is more fall-ish. The concord grapes are so nice this year that I'm thinking of blending some of them with the elderberries to make elder-grape jelly. What think you? m
