Milkweed... and Griswold's Lair

7 pm with a heat index of 93 F...why not go for a walk along the side ditch? I found some milkweed that didn't get mowed down--no Monarch butterflies yet, but you'll see which insect I did find!

*update: saw not one, but two groundhogs in the grass by the old hoglot...tunneled under the concrete between the two buildings....the saga continues. My money is still on Stan for the win!

Walked down the gravel road where I grew up and then the open ditch where we saw a groundhog escape to last evening...came from our lane so I think it was Griswold. I told him never to return! Something like "Begone with ye, ye scurvy varmint!"
And now Stan can fill in the tunnels he dug around our shed. Next time I see the neighbor dog "Sparky" running excitedly through the bean field, I won't chase him back home quite so quickly.

And now, another mystery solved--I went to pick blueberries today and the bushes were missing lots of berries on the top branches...I see a thieving robin out there right now...should have put up the netting last week!
