FORT WORTH, TX. April 15, 2021 - Sharing of Ministries Abroad (SOMA) USA announced today that Kyle Spradley, a lay leader and experienced missioner, will succeed Dr. Glen Petta as the new National Director.
Stepping down after twelve years as National Director, Petta welcomed the Board of Directors’ selection of Kyle as the next leader of SOMA USA. “I’ve served alongside Kyle in the mission field and local ministry and have witnessed first-hand his deep faith and passion to strengthen the Church.
I look forward to seeing what God will do though his leadership.”
Spradley, who has a successful career as a cinematographer, is a lay leader in the Diocese of Fort Worth and has served on several SOMA mission teams. Spradley has participated in missions to the Diocese of Northern Malawi through its companion relationship with the Diocese of Fort Worth. With a passion for discipleship and evangelism, Kyle has held leadership roles with Alpha in his home church, St. Peter & St. Paul Anglican, as well as in diocesan initiatives and ministry. Spradley said, “It was undeniable that God was preparing me for something newbut this is far more than I could have imagined!”
The Rt. Rev. Kevin Bond Allen, Chairman of the SOMA USA Board of Directors, applauded the decision, commenting, “Kyle has a passion for mission, a heart for prayer and love for God’s people.
He brings his communication skills at the perfect time for SOMA’s ministry. The Lord will use him in exciting ways for the future of SOMA.”
Affiliated with SOMA International, which celebrated 40 years of ministry in 2019, SOMA USA’s principal calling is to send short-term missions worldwide to strengthen, renew and empower Anglican churches and dioceses through the transforming grace of the Holy Spirit. SOMA USA has developed lasting relationships through missions around the world and Province-wide events in Uganda, Kenya,
Nigeria, Myanmar, Australia and the US. When COVID travel restrictions began, SOMA adapted to the new mission landscape by initiating “Pastor to Pastor” video calls led by international Anglican leaders. SOMA continues its ministry to both ordained and lay leaders for the purpose of strengthening and growing the Church.
