Rescue of Hummingbird from a Cat's Jaws... Can the Girls Nurse it Back to Health? [May 11, 2022]

On May 11th, 2022 at Galletta's Greenhouse, my husband Chris rescued a hummingbird that was drinking from some hanging baskets and urns from our greenhouse/house mouser cat DooDee. The kitty actually caught it once, it got away when he tried to stop him, then chased it back down and had it in his mouth but didn't crush it. My husband then got an old bird cage that was in the greenhouse to keep it in and see if it would survive (many small critter cat victims don't make it).

The girls LOVED it. We then looked up how to make some sugar water and tried to nurse it back to health. At first we weren't sure if it had blood loss from the attack or a broken wing, but it seemed to be alive, just terribly stunned, dazed, confused, and afraid with a few ruffled feathers.

Did the cute little hummingbird survive?
