We all know that slavery still exists, child slavery, human trafficking, etc. Not many of us actually see it in the Western World, much less experience someone tryig to insist that you become involved in it like it's no big deal. And although its true that the people here in my commuity aren't being forced, it is a fact that there are people conspiring to force the Indigenous here to work well below the already unliveable minimum wage, knowing that the local Kichwa people have no alternative.
I knew I was here to help fight a human rights war, but the way it came into my families' lives last night was as shocking as it was horrific.
