Auditors in Otero County, New Mexico 2020 Election Audit reported deleted election files when inspecting the "Results Tallying Reporting System." The deleted files included: ballot image files, cast vote records per tabulation files, and total cast vote tabulation record file. While files remained stored for other election years, 2020 was the only election year missing.

These files had been downloaded. Election clerks informed the auditors Dominion asked the clerks to back up their files before they performed maintenance on the machines in February that could delete the data. The Secretary of State authorized Dominion workers to perform the maintenance in February 2022, aware an audit was being performed on the election since January.
