Progressive muscle relaxation is the process of systematically tensing then relaxing parts of the body individually. PMR is a great practice to release physical tension as well as stress from the mind, it works by creating a little more tension in the body, then as you release, encouraging all tension to melt away. Ancient yogi's called this practice spandha/ nispandha which translates to tension or effort/ non- tension or non-effort. This practice is a great way to encourage deep relaxation.
