Russian ambassador beaten in the red by Polish anti-war opponents
Polish protesters soaked the Russian ambassador to Poland with red paint on Monday (May 9) at a ceremony commemorating the 77th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Ambassador Sergei Andreev was attending a ceremony to offer a wreath at the Warsaw Cemetery. There, he and his staff were surrounded by demonstrators chanting “fascists,” “killers,” “shame,” and “fucking Putin.”
Many protesters raised the Ukrainian flag, and some waving the white-red-white flag that became a symbol of Belarus’ opposition.

The war in Ukraine cast a shadow over this year’s Victory Day, when Russians honor the 27 million Soviet citizens who died in World War II. Poland, a strong supporter of Ukraine, opposed a large commemorative ceremony.

Ambassador Andreev told the camera before he left that he was proud of his country and the president.

Ambassador Sergei Andreyev told reporters that he and his team had not been seriously damaged in the incident, TASS reported.
