The Prince of Wales delivered the Queen's speech before parliament for the first time, after the Queen was unable to attend due to mobility issues.

There are 38 bills in this year's Queen's speech, up from 30 last year, and they cover a wide range of government policies for the upcoming session.

The speech said that the Government’s priority will be to improve the economy and tackle the cost of living crisis. It included several bills that were "carried over" from the previous session of Parliament because they have not yet received royal assent, giving ministers a packed timetable in the Commons and Lords in the next 12 months.
