Fixed rate of 1% on the sale price of vehicles
A La Fortaleza project that establishes a fixed rate of 1% on the sale price of vehicles
Governor Pedro Pierluisi rejects the project
The bill that establishes a fixed rate of 1% on the sale price of motor vehicles, and that would replace the inventory tax that they currently pay, is on its way to La Fortaleza after the House of Representatives today accepted the changes introduced by the Senate.
Governor Pedro Pierluisi has said that he opposes the measure, arguing that it is a new tax.
“The public policy of my administration is to reject new taxes on our people. The town can't stand another tax on cars. Zero taxes! ”, Pierluisi indicated on his Twitter account when the project was initially addressed in the Chamber.
The president of the Chamber, Rafael "Tatito" Hernández Montañez, and the president of the Chamber's Finance Commission, Jesús Santa Rodríguez, have rejected that it is a new tax.
