A queda de água, queda-d'água, cachoeira, cascata, salto, catadupa ou catarata é uma formação geomorfológica na qual um curso de água corre por cima de uma rocha de composição resistente à erosão, formando degraus com desnível acentuado.

TIPOS DE QUEDAS DE ÁGUA
Catarata - Tem este nome quando a queda de água é de grande caudal e em forma de cortina. A extrema força da água corrói as rochas na parte baixa da catarata, até formar uma espécie de piscina.

Salto - Tem este nome quando a queda é em forma de esguicho, e em queda ininterrupta de grande altura.

Cascata - Tem este nome quando a queda é desde uma massa de rochas de inclinação irregular, no sentido vertical, com a qual a água desliza sobre uma série de declives acidentados.
