The Irish sage and his prescient songs, however, were greeted by a wave of woke resentment. Rolling Stone's Jonathan Bernstein painted him as an old, dissatisfied curmudgeon, whereas others have deemed him as an unrepentant anti-Semite. Morrison's newest project, which includes social criticisms like "Why Are You on Facebook?" has also been derided as irrelevant by those same critics. Mr. Watson, however, comes to Morrison's defense and argues passionately that he is acting virtuously in an age of vice, and that his critics are attacking his character instead of his arguments.
